Since I started wearing makeup back in Jr. High, my foundation routine has changed a lot but Ive always sort of had the same goal in mind: Conceal redness and dark circles, cover pimples and imperfection, and do it all while looking natural, glowing, and effortless. It’s a tall order, but one I think I’ve finally achieved with my current foundation routine.
I always start with clean, moisturized skin. Then using my favorite Sonia Kashuk No. 130 Buffing Brush, I apply a thin layer of L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. I go between the colors 104 and 105, depending on how much of a tan I have at the time.
The dense, sper soft bristles of this buffing brush makes blending foundation fast and leaves the a soft, air-brushed looking finished.
Since this foundation dries to a matte finish, there is no need for powder, so the next step in concealer. I use two different products to highlight and conceal my under eye area. My go-tos are Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard and CoverGirl Ready Set Glow in Light/Medium.
I mix the two concealers together between my fingers and then apply the products in a triangle shape under my eyes. This shape works to conceal my dark circles, and also highlight my under eye area.
I blend the concealers in my my fingers and then switch to my SK Buffing Brush to make everything look seamless and well blended.
The final step is the most important, highlighting! A strategically placed highlight really is key. This Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured in the color Opal is hands down the best I’ve ever used. It creates the most incredible fresh, dewy glow to my skin.I apply it to the tops of my cheekbones, down the center of my nose, to the highest point of my forehead, and on the Cupid’s bow love my upper lip.
Note: Resit the urge to over highlight. More is not more in this particular situation!
I’m really happy with this foundation routine. It’s quick, easy, and lasts all day.
