My Mom and Grandma are the most incredible women I know, so Mother’s Day has always been special to me. I try to tell them how I much I love them everyday, but Mother’s Day is an excuse to make them feel extra loved and appreicated. I wish I could take them on relaxing vacations and shower them with gifts, but (at least at this point in my life) I’m on a major budget so I have to get a little creative on Mother’s Day.
Luckily, there are a lot of ways to show our Moms we care that are beautiful AND affordable. I shared 3 of my go-to gift ideas including my favorite Springtime perfume, a personalized bag of goodies, and this DIY bouquet I made for my latest post on StyleHaul.

More about that polish:
I’ve tried a lot of nail polishes that claim to be long-wearing, no-cip, gel lookalikes but NONE of them hold a candle to this polish. The formula is glossy–I use it with the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat and HIGHLY recommend it–and it took a good 5 days before I noticed chipping. I wasn’t careful with my manicure at all. I scrubbed dishes, took long baths, and my nails stayed chip free. Crazy.
Best of all, it does not require UV lamps like most gel polishes. You simply apply it like a regular polish and spend the next several days marveling at its awesomeness.
Breakfast in Bed. I made a video featuring three different waffle recipes for International Waffle Day that would work very well for this occasion! Check it out HERE.
Plan a day at the beach. With the weather finally warming up, why not pack a picnic and cooler of cold drinks and head to the beach? Include a cute new beach bag filled with a pretty towel, a new book or assortment of magazines, and sunscreen too! Time spent with Mom is the most important part of Mother’s Day, so relax and enjoy a long leisurely day of quality time.
What NOT To Give Mom:
1. Glittery Eyeshadow. Matte colors tend to compliment mature skin better than glitter. Something about metallic and glittery shadow can age a woman and nobody wants that! If you want to get Mom a new eyeshadow, opt for mattes or colors with a subtle pearl finish.
2. Foundation. I never recommend that anyone give foundation as a gift since matching someone’s color is tricky. Unless you know which brand and color they wear, avoid face makeup.
3. Dark Lipstick. Steer clear of anything overly trendy like vampy, dark lipstick. Stick with neutral colors that she can wear on a daily basis.
Whatever you decide to give the special women in your life this Mother’s Day, remember it really is the thought that counts. Try to remember little details–colors they like, products they’ve mentioned, or stores they love–and incorporate them into the gift. Be thoughtful and as generous as possible without going over budget and your Mom will love it.
