I got to go to the Edun show at NYFW Spring 2015! It was incredible! StyleHaul and Beauty.com sent me backstage where I interviewed the head makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury, as well as the head nail stylist (and founder of Butter London) Nonie Creme, and one of the best hair stylists in the game, James Pecis.
I’m working on a new video featuring all three of these interviews and lots of backstage footage so make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel so you can see it when it’s ready! YouTube.com/missvranhalen
I also wrote all about my day at the Edun show on StyleHaul’s blog. Check it out for more backstage info and lots of pictures! Blog.StyleHaul.com
For this show, I went with one of my favorite looks: Retro Glam. The bold lip makes me feel confident and put together and it lasts all day, which is great for a busy day like this one!
I’ve listed all of the products below, but a few need a quick shout out for their utter and unyielding awesomeness!
1. CoverFx BB Gel in G Medium Deep
I found this mattifying BB gel last summer when I was looking for a very natural looking daytime foundation that would not break me out. I was moving to NYC and I knew my summer would be spent running around in the humidity, so I didn’t want my makeup to make me break out. Luckily, I found this one and am forever in love. It has amazing ingredients–Vitamin C, ceramides, Thyme extract–stays matte, and lasts a really long time! PS.. This isn’t sponsored, I just really LOVE this stuff!
2. Beautique Lip Liner in Real Red
I heart this lip liner because it DOES NOT BUDGE! I promise, it’s the best 2 bucks you will ever spend on a lip color. I get it at Sally’s (for some reason it’s not on the website, but it’s always in the store.) The trick to making it last all day is to apply lip balm and let it “soak in” while you’re doing the rest of your makeup. Then, wipe the excess lip balm off so your they are not greasy (which makes the lip color slide around and wear off) and apply the lip liner. Start by lining the lips and then fill them in completely. Some days I follow this with a lipstick– like I did in this video– or I leave it as is with just a touch of lip balm on top. I’m telling you, people marvel that I am able to eat and drink without messing up my lipstick!
**One weird thing to keep in mind: this is the only color I recommend from this line. I have no idea why but the other colors do not apply the same way. Some, like a dark plum one I have, is very patchy and some, like a nude brown color called Mocha, wears off very easily. I don’t know why there is a difference between the colors, but there is so stick with Real Red!
